Turkey's revenues from tourism were up 39.6 percent in the first quarter of 2013 when compared to the same period last year and reached a value of 4.9 billion USD.
Turkey's Statistics Authority, TurkStat, on Friday announced figures pertaining to Turkish tourism between January and March 2013.
According to TurkStat, 72.5 percent of Turkey's tourism revenues came from foreign visitors while 27.5 percent came from Turkish citizens living overseas.
Tourists came to Turkey either on their own or by tours.
Out of the expenses made, 4.4 billion USD constituted individual expenses of tourists while 512.3 million USD were spent as part of tours.
Tourists in Turkey spent 982 USD per person on the average.
Meanwhile, the number of tourists visiting Turkey in the first quarter of 2013 went up 18.7 percent when compared to the same term last year. 5,008,425 tourists visited Turkey between January and March 2013.Last Mod: 26 Nisan 2013, 15:07
