"Double taxation of tax levied on income and prevention of tax evasion" certificates of approval between Turkey and Germany have become valid.

In a statement, Turkish Foreign Ministry said Thursday, "On the occasion of Turkish President Abdullah Gul's visit to Germany, 'Double taxation of tax levied on income and prevention of tax evasion between the Republic of Turkey and the Federal Republic of Germany" certificates of approval which were signed by Turkish Minister of Finance Mehmet Simsek and German Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schaeuble on September 19, 2011 became effective after exchanging."

According to the statement, the tax treaty which was signed on April 16, 1985 became effective on December 31, 1989. "The double taxation agreement on tax levied on income and wealth agreement between the governments of Turkey and Germany" was signed in the need of updating the agreement under the changes of both countries' tax legislation and economic developments," it said.

The statement added that the renewed tax treaty will bring strength to the economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Germany.
