Consumer confidence index in Turkey was up 0.2 percent in January 2012. The index climbed to 92.2 points over the previous month, Turkey's statistics authority, TurkStat, said Thursday.
TurkStat said the increase in the index mainly owed to improvement in purchasing power and prospects of finding a job in the next six months.
The rise in expectation over purchasing power was 0.9 percent within the next six months as expectation in prospects of finding a job within the next six months was also up 0.9 percent.
The consumer confidence index can take value between 0 and 200. It indicates an optimistic outlook when the index is above 100, but it indicates a pessimistic outlook when it is below 100.
