Turkey grew 8.8 percent in the second quarter of 2011, statistical authority, TurkStat, said on Monday.
TurkStat made public Q2 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) figures, and said Turkey grew 8.8 percent in this period.
Growth projections were around 7-7.5 percent for this period.
Accordingly, GDP in current prices was up 19.2 percent to 318.4 billion Turkish liras-TL (176.8 billion USD) year-on-year in the second quarter of 2011.
GDP in constant prices grew 8.8 percent to 27.9 billion TL (15.5 billion USD).
Calender adjusted gross domestic product rose 8.3 percent year-on-year in Q2-2011, whereas seasonal and calender adjusted GDP was up 1.3 percent.
