Turkey's Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan has said that Turkey was willing to increase its trade volume with Kyrgyzystan.
Caglayan had a meeting on Wednesday with Kyrgyzystan Economy & Antimonopoly Policies Minister Temir Sariev in Ankara.
"There is a 50 percent increase in Turkish exports to Kyrgyzstan between January 1 and August 13, and our imports from this country also rose during the same period. At the end of the year, our trade volume will go beyond 300 million USD. We demand our construction sector to participate on re-building of Kyrgyzystan. Our contracting companies made a 585 million USD business. We are supporting and will continue to support Kyrgyzystan's development," Caglayan told reporters after the meeting.
Minister Caglayan stated that they increased the level of Turkey-Kyrgyzystan relations to the strategic alliance level with today's meeting.
Noting that the trade volume between both countries had been 41 million USD a decade ago, Caglayan said the figures were now displaying 232 million USD since 2001.
Meanwhile, guest minister Temir Sariev defined the trade volume between both countries as insufficient.
Inviting Turkish companies to Kyrgyzystan in order to make investments in several sectors, including telecommunications, mining and energy, "We need your experience. We do not want Turkey to give us a fish, we want them to teach us how to catch a fish," said Sariev.Last Mod: 15 Ağustos 2012, 16:26
