Turkey-Kosovo business forum held In Istanbul

Turkey's State Minister for Foreign Trade Zafer Caglayan called on Turkish businessmen to make more investments in Kosovo.

Speaking at the closing session of Turkey-Kosovo Business Forum in Istanbul, Caglayan said, "we wish to see a more powerful, influential and prosperous Kosovo in the Balkans. We will continue extending full support to Kosovo for its efforts to become a distinguish member of the international community."

Referring to economic and commercial relations between the two countries, Caglayan said, "Turkey's exports to Kosovo amounted to nearly 270 million USD and its imports were about 10 million USD in 2009. These figures are far away from the real potential of our countries. We call on Turkish businessmen to make more investments in Kosovo especially in the sectors of tourism, construction and industry."

Kosovar Economy & Finance Minister Ahmet Shala said on his part that Turkish politicians and businessmen should consider Kosovo as a gate opening to European markets.

"We try to keep taxes at the minimum level. We expect Turkish businessmen to invest in our country. We are ready to provide them with any kind of facilities," he said.
