Turkish Energy & Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz has said that Turkey demanded a reduction from Russia in the price of natural gas transferred via Western Line.
We asked for a reduction in the price of natural gas which we import from Russia via Western Line, and if Russia does not respond to our demand, we will end the contract, added Yildiz who spoke to reporters after a workshop in Ankara on Thursday.
The contract between Turkey and Russia on natural gas transfer via Western Line will expire in the end of 2011.
Noting that Turkey imported an important part of its natural gas and oil need, Yildiz said that natural gas raw material prices increased 39 percent in the last 29 months.
If Russia does not make the reduction we have demanded, we will end the contract, said Yildiz.
