The Informational Technologies and Communication Authority released a report on the electronic communication industry in Turkey in the first quarter of 2010, and said Turkey's monthly mobile communication use was 195.7 minutes.

Thus, Turkey became the third country in Europe using mobile communication the most, behind France and Ireland.

France's monthly cell phone use was 249 minutes, and that of Ireland was 231 minutes.

A subscriber of Turkey's GSM operator Turkcell spoke approximately 163 minutes on the cell phone a month. Vodafone subscriber's one month approximate cell phone use was 200 minutes, and that of Avea subscriber was 264 minutes.

In the first quarter of 2010, the number of Turkcell subscribers was down 2.1 percent, and that of Avea's was down 2.4 percent.

However, Vodafone's subscribers were up 0.9 percent. Avea had 11,550,000 subscribers, Turkcell had 34,260,000 and Vodafone had 15,720,000 subscribers.

Thus, the number of mobile phone users was 61.5 million in Turkey.

In regard to number of subscribers, Turkcell had 55.7 percent market share, Vodafone had 25.5 percent share and Avea had 18.8 percent share.

The report also said net sale revenues of Turk Telekom and mobile operators were up 1.5 percent in 2009 over 2008.

The operators earned some 13.1 USD (20.7 billion Turkish liras-TL) from their net sales in 2009.

In the first quarter of 2010, Turk Telekom had a net revenue of 1.15 billion USD (1.81 billion TL), Turkcell had 1.33 billion USD (2.10 billion TL), Vodafone had 434.8 million USD (682.7 million TL), and Avea had 412.2 million USD (647.4 million TL).

Thus, the net sale revenues of Turk Telekom and other mobile operators reached 3.28 billion USD (5.16 billion TL) in the first quarter.

Turk Telekom's net revenue was 65.6 million USD (103.1 million TL), that of Turkcell was 137.7 million USD (216.2 million TL), that of Vodafone was 193 million USD (303.1
million TL), and that of Avea was 77.9 million USD (122.4 million TL).

As of the first quarter of 2010, there were over 7.4 million internet subscribers in Turkey. The number of internet users was up 9.4 percent in this period, over the previous quarter.

The number of mobile internet users was over 640,000 in the first quarter of 2010.

Also, the number of 3G subscribers reached almost 8.7 million by the end of March.
