Turkish Development Minister Cevdet Yilmaz said on Thursday that Turkey would be a member of the executive board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), being in the position of making decisions about other countries.
"Turkey will not be in the position of a country about which decisions are taken but it will be in the position of making decisions about other countries," said Yilmaz in a meeting in Turkey's eastern province of Ardahan.
Yilmaz emphasized that they were aiming to develop Turkey in every area and have it become one of the most powerful 10 economies by 2023.
"We took over 25 billion USD IMF debt but we have not lent any loan to IMF; on the contrary, we are able to give a loan of 5 billion USD to IMF now," said Yilmaz.
