Turkey has trade relations with all countries worldwide, with the exception of two Pacific Island nations,Turkish Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Ali Babacan said on Friday in Chicago.

“Outside of the US and EU, Turkey has developed trade relations with African and Asian countries. Worldwide there are only two Pacific island nations which Turkey has not yet developed trade relations with," he stated.

On the final day of his US visit, Babacan visited the Chicago offices of the United Parcel Service (UPS), which were decorated with Turkish flags and evil eye beads, renowned in Turkish culture.

UPS Corporate Transportation Department Head Burt Wallace in his speech thanked the Turkish minister for his efforts to dynamize the Turkish economy and develop trade relations between Turkey and the United States.

Noting he was visiting the US with a delegation of 40 Turkish businesspeople, Babacan explained that commercial relations between the two countries had accelerated over the last years as businesspeople from the two countries undertook mutual investments.

Despite there being only one flight daily between Turkey and the US in 2002, now Turkish Airlines (THY) only flew to just New York 3 times a day, Babacan mentioned regarding developed relations.
