Turkey's current account deficit grew 180 percent in the first six months of 2010 over the same period a year earlier, the Turkish Central said Bank on Wednesday.
Turkey ran $20,743 million current account deficit in January-June this year. The figure for the same period in 2009 was $7,383 million.
The monthly figure for June 2010 was $3.37 billion, marking a 51.5 percent hike, which the bank said was mainly caused by an increase of 49.2 percent in trade deficit up to $4.33 billion in June 2010.
Account deficit in June 2009 was $2.2 billion.
