Turkey's overall export and import unit value indices increased 16.1 percent and 19 percent, respectively, in May 2011 over the same month a year earlier.
Turkey's statistics authority, TurkStat, said on Friday overall export indices were down 3.7 percent while import volume indices increased 19.9 percent.
According to foreign trade indices with the 2003 base year on provisional foreign trade data, the export unit value index increased 7.9 percent for agriculture and forestry, 29.9 percent for fishery, 17 percent for mining, and 16.3 percent for the manufacturing industry in May 2011.
The import unit value index was also up 44.3 percent for agriculture and forestry, 32.5 percent for mining, and 16.6 percent for the manufacturing industry.
Calendar adjusted export volume indices were down 3.7 percent while import volume indices increased 19.9 percent.
The export volume index was down 16.9 percent for agriculture and forestry, 25 percent for mining and 2.5 percent for manufacturing industry while it was up 8.3 percent for fishery.
The import volume index increased 11.9 percent for agriculture and forestry, 27.2 percent for mining, and it was up 21.6 percent for manufacturing industry.
