The hourly labor cost index rose by 9.6 percent and the hourly earnings index increased by 9.5 percent in the second quarter of 2011 over the same period previous year, Turkish statistical authority, TurkStat, said on Friday.
TUIK disclosed results of the Labor Cost Index for the second quarter of 2011.
Accordingly, the hourly labor cost index with 2008 as the base year showing the hourly changes in whole labour cost items rose by 9.6 percent.
The breakdown by economic activity shows that this increase was 8.7 percent for the sector of industry, 12.9 percent for construction and 10.3 percent for services sector.
The highest increase in hourly labor cost index was in economic activity J (information and communication) with 14.6 percent.
Hourly earnings index showing changes in regular and irregular payments to employees rose by 9.5 percent.
The breakdown by economic activity shows that the increase was 8.9 percent for the sector of industry, 13.1 percent for construction and 9.7 percent for services sector.
The highest increase in hourly earnings cost index was in economic activity G (wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles) with 13.5 percent.
