Turkey's sectoral confidence indices down in Sept.

Confidence index for services decreased by 3 percent ,while retail trade confidence index and construction confidence index decreased  by 0.1% and by 5.1% respectively in September 2013 compared to the previous month, accordding to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

The confidence index which was 107.2 for services, 109.5 for retail trade and 83.4 for construction sectors in previous month became 104, 109.4 and 79.2 respectively.

The decrease in the services confidence index stemmed from the deterioration in business situation over the past three months (-0.5%) and demand-turnover expectation over the next three months (-9.2%) sub indices and demand-turnover over the past three months sub-index increased by 2.2% compared to the previous month, said TurkStat.

The decrease in the retail trade confidence index stemmed from the decline in business activity-sales expectation over the next three months sub-index by 13.7% and business activity-sales over the past three months and current volume of stock sub-indices increased by 8.3% and 8.8% respectively compared to August, it added.

The decline in the construction confidence index stemmed from the decrease in total employment expectation over the next three months sub-index by 10.4 and the current overall order books sub-index increased by 2.8% compared to the previous month, it also said.

Sectoral confidence indices can take value between 0 and 200. It indicates an optimistic outlook when the index is above 100, but it indicates a pessimistic outlook when it is below 100.
