Turkey earned 10.6 percent less from its steel exports in 2013 compared to a year ago due to regional political instability and separate anti-dumping cases against the country's exporters.
According to the data obtained from the Turkish Steel Exporters' Association, Turkey's steel exports in 2013 declined in volume by 7.3 percent compared to the previous year and accounted for 9 percent of Turkey's total exports worth $151.7 billion.
Turkey, however, maintained its position as the world's largest exporter of rebar by selling 8.5 million tonnes and ranked the world’s 7th biggest exporter of steel despite the reduction of exports in 2013.
Turkey made $13.9 billion in revenue from the 18.4 million tonnes of steel it sold overseas in the last year, compared to the $15.6 billion in revenue from the 19.9 million tonnes in 2012.
The Middle East remained the largest buyer of Turkish steel with 7.4 million tonnes, followed by the African countries, America and the EU with 3.3 million tonnes, 2.8 million tonnes and 2.8 million tonnes respectively.Last Mod: 26 Ocak 2014, 15:52
