A research laboratory with the Turkey's national science foundation TUBITAK has developed a hybrid bus that can reduce carbon emission and fuel consumption by 20 percent compared to a conventional counterpart, project head said Friday.
The bus can speed up to as high as 100 kilometers per hour and can take 40 kilometers on lithium batteries, which can be charged 85 percent in 30 minutes with specially designed adapters. Charging time is 6 to 7 hours on conventional grid.
The project is part of a wider effort to reduce carbon emissions in public transportation, sponsored by the Turkish Transportation Ministry.
