The national unemployment rate moved up to 10.1 percent in December, a 0.3 percent increase over the same month of the preceding year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced on Friday.
According to TurkStat's Household Lanor Survey for December, the number of people without a job was 2.79 million that month.
The TurkStat figures show that Turkey's labor force grew to 24.76 million in December, from 23.67 million in the same month of the preceding year. The labor force participation rate was calculated at 50 percent in December.
The institute also stated that the employment rate for non-agricultural jobs moved up by 0.4 percent to 12.4, while youth unemployment stood at 19.8 percent, a 1.7 percent increase over the same period in 2011.Last Mod: 15 Mart 2013, 11:55
