Turkey's unemployment rate rose 0.3 point and became 9.4 percent in November 2012 when compared to November 2011. TurkStat, Turkey's statistical authority, said on Friday that the number of unemployed people increased 201,000 in November 2012 and reached 2.6 million.
Non-agricultural unemployment rate was posted as 11.7 percent with a rise of 0.3 point, while youth unemployment rate was posted as 18.8 percent with a 1.8 point rise.
Meanwhile, the number of employed people increased 1.024 million and reached 25.2 million in November 2012 when compared to November 2011. Thus, employment rate increased from 44.9 percent to 45.9 percent with 1 point rise.
Agricultural employment increased 37,000 and non-agricultural employment increased 987,000 in this period.
Of those who were employed in November 2012; 23.8 percent was employed in agriculture, 19 percent in industry, 7.2 percent in construction, and 50 percent in services.
Labour force participation rate was posted as 50.7 percent with 1.3 points rise in November 2012 when compared to November 2011.
