Turkish company to join Saudi Arabia's 'New Mecca' project

Saudi Arabia is going to implement a great settlement project, "New Mecca" in the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca by the end of this year.

Atlas Group Construction, a Turkish company, will be a part of the settlement project in the Bavabad province. Under the project, Bavabad which is 13 km away from holy site of the Kaaba is planned to host 690,000 people on an area of 1.6 million square meters.

The Saudi Arabia-based company Sumuo will undertake the giant project jointly with its Turkish partner. Sumuo introduced the giant project in International Construction and Real Estate Fair in Jeddah.

Mehmet Ceylan, chairman of Atlas, told AA on Thursday, "We will launch the project through Saudi-Atlas cooperation. We will launch other projects as well both in Turkey and Saudi Arabia in the framework of this cooperation."

Dr. al-Kahtani, chairman of the Sumuo Company, expressed his pleasure in the participation of a Turkish company in the giant project.
