Financial sector in Turkey grew almost nine-fold between 2000 and 2009 from TRY 116 billion to TRY 956 billion, Turkey's banking regulation authority, BDDK, said on Monday.
The increase marked a surge from 69.4 percent to 99.9 percent in terms of proportion to the GDP in 2000 and in 2009.
BDDK said the banking sector's total size of assets reached to TRY 1.4 trillion in 2009 as 78.3 percent of the sector's total profit was claimed by large-scale banks followed by medium-sized
