The President of Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Prof. Yucel Altunbasak said that in all the counties that export technology the private sector and companies focused on research and development are located at the center of business.

According to information from TUBITAK, the 4th EUREKA South Korea Day was hosted by Turkey with the cooperation of South Korean, Turkish and European companies. 

Companies which develop high technology like Samsung, LG, Vestel, Arcelik, ASELSAN and TUBITAK and directors of research institutes also attended the event. More than 50 companies from South Korea, about 60 from Europe and about 100 Turkish companies came together.

Altunbasak reminded that Turkey and South Korea had the same national income per capita 30 years ago but today, South Korea's national income per capita was twice as much as Turkey's. 

The program, with a 27 year history and about 4,100 projects with a volume of 30 billion euros in r & d, has been created. Important industrial enterprises from 43 countries take place in this program.

This year presidency of EUREKA from July 2012-June 2013 was Turkey, who is a founding member since 1985 but was not active since 2006. In the last two years, 120 Turkish companies participate with 42 projects and provided a volume of 50 million euros in the scope of the program.
