Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan on Tuesday called on companies of the United States to invest in Turkey.
Caglayan, who attended Turkish-American Economic Relations Seminar, met with Turkish and U.S. businessmen.
Addressing the seminar, Caglayan said a groundwork should be laid in Turkey to establish companies like Youtube and Google.
Caglayan gave information to businessmen about the developments in Turkey's economy since 2002. He said Turkey was eager to make more trade with the United States.
Caglayan, who later spoke to reporters, stated that they met with the executives of Plug and Play, which is a venture fund company. He said the company worked like a fund and supported the entrepreneurs. "This company wants to extend support to the commercialization of the projects carried out by Turkish software companies. Turkey needs such a fund," he said.
Referring to their visit to HP company, Caglayan said executives of the company stated that they would develop the operations regarding Turkey. "The company said they would also start to manufacture pc in Turkey," he said.
Caglayan said Turkish exports increased 40 percent over the same period of last year and exceeded 5 billion USD in August 1 and 15, 2011. He said exports amounted to 82.5 billion USD in January 1 and August 15, "we will exceed 132 billion USD at the end of the year with a great possibility," he underlined.
