Turkish Science, Industry & Technology Minister Nihat Ergun said that the monthly slow down in industrial production was a flat course and a controlled growth in a sense.
When the rise in industrial production is taken into consideration, it is possible to say that the growth rate of Turkish economy can be more than seven percent by the end of 2011, added Ergun who assessed recent economic developments in Turkey and the world to private NTV channel on Tuesday.
Ergun said that Turkey grew 8.9 percent in 2010, and 11 percent in the first quarter of 2011.
Turkey's industrial production index increased 6.7 percent in June 2011 when compared to June 2010.
TurkStat stated on Monday that the industrial production index also rose 1.1 percent in May 2011, when compared to May 2010.
In the sub sectors level of industry; mining sector decreased 2.2 percent, manufacturing sector index increased 7.5 percent, while electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply index increased 4 percent in June 2011 when compared to June 2010.
Calendar adjusted production index in June 2011 increased 6.9 percent when compared to June 2010, and seasonal and calendar adjusted industrial production index decreased 0.9 percent when compared to May 2011.
Monthly rise was 5.7 percent in the mining sector and 0.7 percent in the manufacturing sector, while it was 2.5 percent in electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply index.
Industrial production index dropped 2.6 percent in mining sector and decreased one percent in manufacturing sector, while it rose 0.4 percent in electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply index in June 2011 when compared to May 2011.
Noting that Turkey was closely following the economic developments in the world, Ergun said that Turkey had the required inner dynamics which could eliminate the negative impacts of recent economic developments.
Ergun said that they would hold a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan today, and assess political and economic developments in Turkey and the world.
