Turkmenistan Intl Investment Forum begins in Istanbul

The Turkmenistan International Investment Forum began in Istanbul on Tuesday at the Halic Congress Center. Turkish President Abdullah Gul joined the Forum via video conference.

Speaking at the Forum, President Gul underlined that the Turkish-Turkmen trade volume got close to 2 billion USD.

"Projects assumed by Turkish companies in Turkmenistan are worth 32 billion USD," Gul said.

"More than 600 registered Turkish companies in Turkmenistan have undertaken more than 1,400 projects so far," Gul stressed.

"We are talking about a blossoming economy and society," Gul said.

"Turkey is not a rich country when you look at it from the perspective of oil or natural gas. However, Turkey is a producing country which has integrated itself with the global economy," Gul noted.

"This is the basic dynamic that has made Turkey the world's 17th biggest economy," Gul emphasized.

"Turkmenistan's happiness and success is Turkey's happiness and success. Our relations have been established on this understanding and I am pleased and excited to see that our relations are getting stronger in all fields every day," Gul said.

"Turkmenistan continues to successfully develop under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow," Gul indicated.

"Turkmenistan is a country whose economy is attractive and has very suitable conditions for foreign investors," Gul also said.
