Turkish people spent more than 2.2 billion Turkish lira (about $1.26 billion) for domestic trips in the first period of 2011 (January-March).
Turkish Board of Statistics (Turkstat) announced on Friday the results of the Household Domestic Tourism Survey for the first period of the year.
Accordingly, total number of trips by Turkish people was 11,549,000. 73 percent of them visited their relatives in different provinces while 9.1 percent take trips for leisure and holiday and 8.1 percent for health.
Average expenditures was calculated as 191 TL (about $109).
According to the survey, Turkish people spent more than 2.2 billion TL for trips. Average expenditure per person was calculated as 179 TL (about $102).
