Unemployment figures in Turkey increased by 0.3 points and recorded 9.1 percent in September compared to the same period of 2011.

Number of unemployed people increased by 141,000 compared to the same period of the previous year and has reached to 2.53 million people in Turkey. Unemployment rate was realized as 11.3 percent with 0.2 points increase in urban areas and reached to 4.8 percent with 0.3 points increase in rural areas.

Working age population increased by 1.09 million in September 2012 compared to the same month of the previous year.

Labour force participation rate was 51 percent in the mentioned month.

Number of employed increased by 723,000 compared to the same period of the previous year and has reached to 25,472,000 in the period of September 2012. Agricultural employment increased by 27,000 and non-agricultural employment increased by 696,000 in this period.

In the period of September 2012, number of seasonally adjusted employed increased by 290,000 compared to the previous period and number of seasonally adjusted unemployment persons increased by 91,000. Seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate was 50.3 percent by a 0.6 point increase and employment rate was 45.6 percent by a 0.5 point rise. Unemployment rate was 9.4 percent with a 0.2 point increase.
