The United States has pledged a one billion dollar 'energy investment' to help solve Pakistan's energy crisis, Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif's advisor for National Security and Foreign Affairs Sertaj Aziz said Friday.

A strategic dialogue meeting with the US is scheduled to take place in March 2014 in Washington, Aziz told journalists, stating the countries entered a new period in relations with Sharif's recent visit to the US.

"President Obama also put forth his demand to help in defense and trade sectors," Aziz said.

Touching on unmanned aerial vehicle attacks (drones) by the US, Aziz said Sharif debated the issue with Obama.

"We hope the attacks will decline by the end of the year. We also expect an official statement by the US" he added.
