Nigel Farage, the leader of the far-right United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP), who some tip to be elected as Britain's next prime minister, has called on his countrymen to stand up for its 'Judeo-Christian' values.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News presenter Sean Hannity, Farage said that new anti-terror measures introduced by UK Prime Minister David Cameron, which would see the passports of those suspected of fighting for illegal organizations abroad seized, were simply "following" his lead.

"We’ve now got somewhere between 500 and 1,500 British UK passports holders who are fighting in the ranks of Isis...It’s unbelievable...It’s too many. And the Prime Minister’s first position was that he’d take passports away from those he thought would go. What I said was I don’t want those that have gone becoming even more radicalised, brutalized, coming back into our country,” Farage said regarding British citizens who are fighting for the self-styled Islamic State militant group in Iraq and Syria.

However, the anti-EU politician who led his party to success in the latest European Parliamentary elections, argued that the European Convention on Human Rights would most likely prevent the UK implementing such measures.

Farage also blamed the rise in young Britons wanting to fight for the IS on a loss of traditional values. "My country is a Judeo-Christian country. So we’ve got to actually start standing up for our values," he said, indicating that he would like to see new measures introduced in schools, prisons and other public institutions where people are " radicalised."
