Dual citizenship 'will change the identity of German society'

World Bulletin / News Desk

German Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich has reiterated his stance against dual citizenship which is widely granted to immigrants in other European countries.

The German minister told the "Muenchner Merkur" newspaper he was vehemently against dual citizenship as it would result in Germany having a permanent Turkish minority and change the identity of German society in the long-term.

The SPD has said it will not enter a 'grand coalition' with the conservatives unless they agree to expand dual citizenship.

Germany’s interior minister Hans-Peter Friedrich is a member of the Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU), the sister party of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU).

The CSU is known for its strict policies and measures against immigrants.

A person who was born in Germany but carries the citizenship of a country outside the EU must decide to have German citizenship instead of the previous country at the age of 23.

I think he is right and wrong at the same time. All countries are built on some type of a change mass migration, conquer etc. This is not different. Let us not forget why Germany needed migrants at the first place! Second of all germany has so many racist laws and people, even so called open minded ones are so only among themselves and they despise NON*Germans including other European countries.
