EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule met with Ukrainian opposition leaders on Tuesday in the Ukrainian capital Kiev to find a resolution for the political crisis engulfing the country.

Fule and opposition leaders Arseniy Yatseniuk, Vitali Klitschko and Oleg Tyagnibok discussed the issue of resolving the political and economic crisis in Ukraine, according to a press statement from Udar, a Ukrainian party led by Klitschko.

Klitschko is also going to assess the situation with the protestors, the statement added.

"Before negotiations with the President, the Commissioner wanted once again to know the suggestions by the opposition on the way to resolve the crisis and to place key emphasis for compromise, not only for opposition but also for the people who took to the streets to ensure changes would take place in the country," Vitali Klitschko said after the meeting.

Leader of Batkivshchyna, Arseniy Yatseniuk said that the EU is ready to give full support. However, questions remain as to whether President Yanukovych is ready to make the suitable decisions.

EU support includes an economic and political package, a statement from Batkivshchyna said.
