Twiggy Garcia, a former barman at London’s Tramshed bar, attempted to conduct a citizen’s arrest on former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair on Friday.
Taking it upon himself to confront the former British leader over his war crimes in Iraq and lying to the nation about Saddam Hussein possessing weapons of mass destruction, Garcia told Blair that he was arresting him for committing ‘a crime against peace’ and launching ‘an unprovoked war against Iraq’, before asking him to accompany him to a police station to answer the charges.
Garcia quickly backed off when he realized that one of Tony Blair’s sons had called in an undercover security agent. Until then, Blair managed to stall Garcia by constantly changing the subject to Syria. Upon noticing the security agent, Garcia decided to step back. He then quit his job at the bar and walked out.
Speaking to Russia Today about his experience, Garcia said “I believe Blair is responsible for the mass murder of Iraqi civilians after taking our country into an illegal war.”
“I think he actually believed the lies that were coming out of his mouth,” he added.
“I hope one day he faces his charges in The Hague,” concluded the barman.
Funnily enough, Garcia is actually the fifth person to attempt a citizen’s arrest on Blair, as a website offering 8,500 Pounds to anyone who can pull off the arrest is part of a growing movement calling for him to be held to account for the Iraq war.Last Mod: 21 Ocak 2014, 16:56
