Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte Wednesday paid tribute to people who had voted "against populism" as his party scooped the largest number of seats in parliament.
"This was the evening when The Netherlands, after Brexit and the American elections, said 'stop' to the wrong kind of populism," Rutte told cheering supporters.
Geert Wilders thanks his supporters through Twitter, saying that Prime Minister Mark Rutte "is not rid of me yet," Wilders said in a tweet, as exit polls showed he could take 19 seats in the new parliament, up from 12. Rutte's Liberal VVD was seen as having grabbed the lion's share with 31 seats -- down nine from the outgoing parliament.
