Greece will extradite to Germany Ahmet Duzgun Yuksel, a suspected member of an outlawed Marxist-Leninist group in Turkey, who is also sought by Turkish authorities for involvement in the killing of a prominent Turkish businessman, Greek media have said.

Yuksel, carrying a fake Bulgarian passport, was detained on Thursday in Exarcheia in downtown Athens in connection with a boat intercepted by Greek coast guards in July this year off Chios Island in the Aegean. The boat was carrying explosives.

Yuksel, a suspected member of the outlawed Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front (DHKP-C), is sought by Turkey for the 1997 killing of Omer Sabanci -- the younger brother of Turkish business tycoon Sakip Sabanci -- along with two other people.

After the assassination, Yuksel fled to Germany.

Germany has issued an INTERPOL red Notice, or internationally wanted persons alert on Yuksel.

Turkey has also appealed to Greek authorities for his extradition.
