Greek Cypriot administration will elect its leader on February 24 as each candidates failed to exceed 50 percent in the first round of voting on February 17.

Nicos Anastasiades of Democratic Rally (DISI) and Stavros Malas of Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL) will compete in the second round of voting.

The new leader will formally begin term-in-office on February 28 after Demetris Christofias resigns. Greek Cypriot administration is ruled by "presidential" system.

The new leader will rule Greek Cypriots for five years and will also chair Greek Cypriot side in Cyprus talks.

Anastasiades received 45.46 percent of votes, Malas received 26.91 percent of votes, while independent George Lillikas received 24.9 percent of votes in the first round of elections on February 17.
