Hundreds of Hamburg residents demonstrated Wednesday night against imposition of three regions in the city as "danger zones" giving police freedom to screen people and take them into custody.
It was reported that a bystander, who was injured after being hit by a rock in the head, was taken to hospital.
The protest ended with the intervention of the police.
The demonstrations followed heavy clashes on December 21 over the eviction of a left wing cultural center in the city. Around 7,000 people protested the eviction of Rote Flora Cultural Center which had been occupied by the left-wing activists since 1989 and served as a meeting point for them in Hamburg. 70 police officers and a number of protesters were injured in the violence.
The Green Party want to overturn the controversial decision through parliament. Green Party Hamburg President, Jens Kerstan said, "The alliance against violence Project we demand, is counter productive with the establishment of danger zones."
The Social Democrat Party Leader of Schleswig-Holstein, Ralf Stegner told the German newspaper "Hamburger Abendblatt" that the government must act with a zero-tolerance strategy against violence against police officers. Stegner also reminded that the protection of the health of officials is essential.Last Mod: 09 Ocak 2014, 17:32
