The general director of the İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Art (İKSV), Görgün Taner, has been appointed the new chair of the board of the European Cultural Foundation (ECF), the İKSV announced on Monday.
Taner, who has been a member of the ECF board since 2007, was selected to be the new chair on May 23 at a meeting held at the foundation headquarters in Amsterdam. Former Chair Wolfgang Petritsch will work at Harvard University's Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.
Taner has served as the general director of the İKSV since 2002 and remains a faculty member of İstanbul Bilgi University's School of Arts and Cultural Management and a board member of İstanbul Modern. From 1998 to 2002, Taner was the president of the International Jazz Festivals Organization. In 2010, he was appointed an art consultant to the Amsterdam Municipality.
The ECF is an independent foundation that supports and promotes cultural exchange across Europe.
