Russia has criticized Japan’s decision to extend its sanctions, declaring it a “hostile action.”
Under a fourth round of sanctions, Japan has imposed restrictions on assets belonging to state-linked banks as well as cutting arms imports from Russia.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said: “This hostile action due to [the] Ukrainian situation indicates that Japan cannot carve out its own foreign policy by itself.”
The statement said the decision was “illogical” and “illegitimate.”
The restrictions apply to VTB, Vneshekonom, Gazprom, Rosselhoz and Sber banks.
In March, Japan indefinitely postponed visa negotiations and space projects with Russia, as well as joint investments.
A total of 63 Russian citizens have been added to the Japanese sanctions list.Last Mod: 25 Eylül 2014, 10:18
