A recent Jakarta Globe report addresses the staggering rate of child molestation in the UK as the abuse of children have become staple pieces of news.
The article lists some harrowing recent cases in which underage children were molested, and some even murdered or tortured.
A group of 7 men who ran an underage sex ring that preyed on young, troubled girls who they fed drugs and alcohol while raping, threatening and sending them off around the country to be violently abused, are due to be sentenced. They were found guilty of torture and rape in the city of Oxford.
The report indicates that social services did nothing on the matter, and the girl was told it was not “appropriate” by the staff of the care home she was staying at when she spoke with them about her experiences.
In another case, Stuart Hazell stands accused of murdering a 12-year-old girl with whose mother and grandmother he had relations, and of hiding her body in the house of the latter.
A 47-year-old man is also currently on trial for the abduction and murder of a 5 year old girl.
Numerous popular ‘celebrities’ from prior decades have been under investigation for sexual abusing young boys and girls.
According to the Child Action Poverty Group, 27 percent of children in the UK are growing up in poverty with that number higher in some districts.
