British police is investigating the claims of "three women who had been held as slaves for about 30 years" as the women were rescued on Thursday from a south London house.

Metropolitan police arrested a man and a woman both in their 60s as two suspects in regards to the slavery claims. Police stated that a 69-year-old Malaysian woman, a 57-year-old Irish woman, and a 30-year-old British woman were all rescued from the house "highly traumatised", and are in safe accommodation at the moment.

The investigation kicked off after a woman called officers at the Freedom Charity and said that she had been held in a house against her will for decades. It was said that the phone call drew attention as it followed a TV documentary being broadcasted about "forced marriages" this summer.
