Two journalists have been arrested on the Mediterranean island of Gibraltar for raising a Spanish flag on a public beech.
Citizen Cake TV show presenter Cake Minuesa and his cameraman were arrested during filming before being released on bail, a Gibraltar police spokesman told AFP.
Show producer Jose Luis Leon confirmed the arrests to Telemadrid on Wednesday evening saying "While they were filming a group of people started insulting them. The police arrived and then they (the journalists) were detained."
"It seems the intention is to accuse them of a breach of public order for placing a flag on a public beach in Gibraltar," he said.
Gibraltar remains a disputed territory between Spain and the UK. Although the UK has been governing the island since the 18th century, Spain also claim right of sovereignty over Gilbraltar.
The UK has accuses Spain of purposely delaying commuters in their comings and goings between Gibraltar and Spain, while Spain accuses the British authorities of smuggling illegal goods into their country.
