Two women have been charged with 'terrorism' offences connected to allegedly funding terrorism in Syria.
Amal Elwahabi, 27, and Nawal Msaad, 26, both from London, are due in court on Thursday.
Amal Elwahabi was arrested on January 16 as she tried to board a flight at Heathrow airport, London, Nawal Msaad was arrested later in North London.
The Metropolitan Police (MET) statement said that the women, “jointly entered into or became concerned in an arrangement as a result of which money was made available or was to be made available to another, and they knew or had reasonable cause to suspect that it would or may be used for the purposes of terrorism”.
The MET said that neither arrest posed an immediate threat.
In an unrelated arrest, a 21-year-old man was arrested at London's Stanstead airport on terrorism charges on Sunday, it is unconfirmed whether he was travelling to Syria.
The MET police warned, “Metropolitan Police Service's Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) will continue to pursue individuals and networks in the UK seeking to support terrorists engaged in the Syrian conflict.”Last Mod: 23 Ocak 2014, 13:01
