Pavlo Lapshyn, a white supremacist from Ukraine, was convicted after murdering a Muslim man by the name of Mohammed Saleem just 5 days after he arrived in the UK. The sentencing, which was heard on Monday, also found him guilty for conspiring to bomb mosques in the country. He pleaded guilty to leaving home-made bombs outside three mosques in June and July.

According to Shaun Edwards of the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit, partly made bombs, chemicals and bomb-making equipment were also discovered by police in his home.

In police documents state that Lapshyn described the motivation saying, “I have a racial hatred so I have a motivation, a racial motivation and racial hatred.”

Murders fuelled by racial and religious hatred have claimed an increasing number of lives recently. An 82-year-old Muslim man was stabbed to death in Birminghamas he was walking home from the mosque last April.
