13 Turkish soldiers were killed in a clash between security teams and terrorists in Silvan town of southeastern province of Diyarbakir on Thursday. Seven others were wounded in the clash, the governor said.
Diyarbakir Governor Mustafa Toprak said that operations continue in the region.
After the clash, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay, Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin, Chief of General Staff Gen. Isik Kosaner, Gendarmery Commander Necdet Ozel and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Undersecretary Hakan Fidan at Prime Ministry in Ankara.
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan met the army and intelligence chiefs as well as the interior minister and head of the paramilitary gendarmerie in Ankara.
Erdogan cancelled his visit to Istanbul.
