70,999 motor vehicles were registered to traffic in Turkey in May, the statistical board said on Wednesday.
The motor vehicles statistics report for May 2010 published by Turkey's statistical authority-TurkStat revaled 70,999 vehicles were registered to traffic in May.
Accordingly, automobiles had the biggest share among vehicles registered to traffic in March with 39,205 vehicles (50.3%).
The number of motor vehicles registered to traffic was down 7.3% percent month-on-month in May.
Istanbul ranked first among provinces, where the highest number of vehicles was registered with 34.5 percent. Ankara had 8.4 percent share, Izmir 6.2 percent, Antalya 4.2 percent, Bursa 3.6 percent, Adana 2.5 percent, Mersin 2.3 percent, Mugla 2.1 percent, Gaziantep 1.8 percent and Konya 1.8 percent. The other provinces had 32.6 percent share in vehicle distribution.
In the first five months of 2010, 330,049 vehicles were registered to traffic and 41,480 others were erased from traffic registry.
A total of 14,605,269 vehicles are registered to traffic as of the end of May.
