AK Party's Provincial Chairman, Aziz Babuscu has announced that AK Party has won in Istanbul in the local elections.

Babuscu said that the people came in front of the ballot boxes and showed their will in the city of Istanbul, Daily Sabah reported. He said that the people have dealt with a multitude of manipulation attempts and still won Istanbul. He said that the people who wanted to see much more different results have yet again failed to win Istanbul.

According to the Ak Party officials, Ak Party got 49,2 percent of the votes, meanwhile CHP got 39,8 percent. It is announced that Ak Party also leads in capital Ankara with 46 percent.

U.S. based cleric Fethullah Gulen's home city of Erzurum also seems to voted for AK Party.

Meanwhile, according to initial results, the polls in the Eastern Anatolian province of Tunceli, which is where Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıcdaroglu hails from, came out in favor of Pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) candidate Mehmet Ali Bul.

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) candidate for Rize, Resat Kasap, has garnered over 65 percent of the vote in Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's homeland.

According to unofficial results, the AK Party is the take-away leader with over 60 percent of the votes in provinces, Rize, Trabzon, Sanlıurfa, Erzurum, Konya, Malatya, Kahramanmaras and Kayseri.
