Al Jazeera today launched its new Turkish language service for Turkey and the Turkish-speaking world.

The much awaited Al Jazeera Turk website went online on Wednesday along with mobile phone applications and a digital magazine.

"My team has been working hard to ensure that we meet the highest journalistic standards of the Al Jazeera network and we believe that our digital launch will contribute significantly to the Turkish language market," managing director of Al Jazeera Turk, Ismail Kizilay said.

"Most importantly, our digital offerings including website, mobile apps and digital magazine can be accessed anywhere and at any time. We are proud to have joined the Al Jazeera Network family and we will strive to ensure objective and factual reporting from, and for, one of the most important geopolitical markets," he added.

Not only Turks in Turkey will be able to follow the latest news from the new website, but all Turkish speakers including those in the Balkans, the Middle-East, the Caucuses, Cyprus, and Turkey expatriates living abroad will also be able to benefit.

In total, across all of these regions, it is believed that there are up to 140 million Turkish-speakers comprising a lucrative, untapped market for Al Jazeera.

It is also highly expected that Al Jazeera Turk will launch its TV channel at some point next year.
