Asian Pacific anti-cancer congress to meet in Turkey

International congress of the Asian Pacific Organization for Cancer Prevention (APOCP) will take place in Istanbul in April 3-7, 2010.

The congress takes place once in two years.

The 5th APOCP Congress will bring together important doctors of Asia Pacific countries who are experts on cancer.

Around 3,000 health personnel, having studies on cancer, from Turkey, United States, France, Australia, Britain, Canada, Japan and Korea will attend the congress.

The Congress will take place under the auspices of Turkish President Abdullah Gul. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Health Minister Recep Akdag are expected to attend the congress.

(APOCP) is a non-governmental organization that is engaged in cancer control especially in the Asia-Pacific region, where we encounter more than 60% of all cancer cases.

The APOCP was founded 10 years ago to promote cancer prevention and also collaborative studies in the Asian Pacific countries.

The first week of April is also “the National Cancer Week" in Turkey, and this coincidence offers a great opportunity for the activities aiming at raising cancer awareness.
