Cold weather wreaks havoc in Turkey

Excessive cold and snowfall paralyzed daily life in many provinces of Turkey. Turkish cities are covered with high snow drift. Many transit city and villages roads were total closed of snowstorm.

Turkey is embracing one of the coldest years that temperature fell until minus 45º C in northern part of Turkey.

Corum is a central Turkish city were 437 villages roads are totally closed of snow storm which is still affecting whole city.

High wind and snowfall gave huge material loss across the country. Excessive snow left many villages without electricity.

High-speed train services between capital Ankara and central Anatolian province of Konya were interrupted due to blizzard and storm.

State Railways Directorate General said on Saturday that heavy snow and blizzard had been influential in some parts of Ankara-Konya high-speed train line, adding that the services had been interrupted due to three-meter snow hills on railway lines.

Efforts are under way to open the line, said the Directorate General, adding that the high-speed train services between Ankara and central Anatolian province of Eskisehir were not affected by the blizzard.
