Convicts working in a workshop at the Bozuyuk Open Prison in Bilecik, Turkey have invented a more fire resistant bed which has the characteristic of being slow to catch fire.

Indicating that they can produce around 120 of these beds a day, Bozuyuk Open Prison Manager Kerim Ciftikli said, “the quilted surface quilting of the bed is resistant to cigarettes and matches. And when you try to set fire to the sponge inside with a lighter,  it doesn’t catch on fire, but melts.”
