Egyptians living in Turkey are set to start a hunger strike on Tuesday to protest the violations of human rights, unlawful prosecutions and death penalties of anti-coup activists in Egypt.
Before the strike begins, members of the Solidarity with Egyptian People Platform will give a press conference in front of Istanbul's Yeni Cami Mosque.
At the conference, IHH Humanitarian Relief general manager Bulent Yildirim and a number of NGO members will speak. Following the speeches, doves and balloons with the names of those who have been given the death penalty will be released.
There will also be a book to collect signatures against the death sentences as well as a giant Rabia sign made of burning candles.
Well-known Turkish writers and artists including Hakan Albayrak, Adem Ozköse, Elif Cakır, Nihal Bengisu Karaca and Sinan Albayrak are also expected to participate in the event.Last Mod: 12 Mayıs 2014, 18:40
